In Situ Observation of Antiphase Boundary on the Ordering Process in CuAu Alloy

Abstract
In situ observation of antiphase domain boundary on the ordering process in CuAu thin film was made by transmission electron microscopy. At 320℃, in CuAuII stability range, antiphase domains are nucleated in CuAu I phase and grow along[100 or [010] directions. In CuAu II phase which involved a antiphase domain with two orientation variants, a large domain absorbed a small one in order to eliminate the lattice strain of interface. At 270℃, in CuAu I stabilty range, domain boundaries disappear with the reduction of domains. The diffuse character of the periodic antiphase boundaries is discussed in comparsion with a high resolution image showing the nucleation and growth of antiphase domain.
